FAQs

Can your assessment guide me in finding the right career?

What is a Psychometric test?

A psychometric test is a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals' mental capabilities, behavioural style and interests. Psychometric tests are designed to measure candidates' suitability for a role based on the required competencies and aptitude (or cognitive abilities).

What type of psychometric test do you use?

We use a psychometric assessment called the PXT, which is a psychometric instrument with a development history extending more than 25 years. Over 600,000 job applicants and incumbents have participated in its development. These sample groups represent a diverse cross section of ages, ethnic groups, income levels, educational levels, job titles, companies, and industries. The PXT is the result of collaboration between several test development psychologists and specialists coordinated by Profiles International, Inc.

What does the psychometric test you use measure?

The ProfileXT is a pre-employment screening tool that helps you select the best candidates and match them with the job for which they are best suited, based on their core behaviors. This assessment tool helps you identify the best job applicants for your current hiring needs.

This powerful tool gives you a clear picture of the candidate’s cognitive and behavioral traits and interests, and provides intuitive questions to strengthen the interview process. It is used for career coaching, selection, on-boarding, managing and strategic workforce planning.

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a set of skills that help us better perceive, understand and manage emotions in ourselves and in others.

How is Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Different from Regular Intelligence (IQ)?

Emotional Intelligence or Emotional Quotient (EQ) is used to identify ones own emotions, evaluate and regulate emotions, perceive and assess others' emotions, use emotions to facilitate thinking, and understand the meaning behind emotions.

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is the ability to learn, understand, and apply information to skills, use logical reasoning, understand words and math, use abstract and spatial thinking, and filter irrelevant information.

Why does Emotional Intelligence matter?

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is as important as your intellect (IQ) in determining success in work and in life because we can apply these skills to help us become more conscious of our own and others’ feelings and be more conscious of the influence emotions are having on our decisions, behaviour and performance.

How is Emotional Intelligence Developed?

Emotional intelligence can be developed through training, role modeling, and direct experience. It can also be developed by experiencing the emotional intelligence of others. Individuals have the capacity to develop emotional intelligence given one's awareness, opportunities, and environment. Many techniques can be learned and practiced to help develop the core aspects of emotional intelligence, these include: self awareness, awareness of others, authenticity, emotional reasoning, self-management, and positive influence.

What types of assessments do you use in your training programs?

We offer assessments that cover a full range of developmental areas.

  • The ProfileXT is most often used during the hiring and selection process and in career coaching.
  • The Everything DiSC Work of Leaders provides a positive, enlightening leadership development experience.
  • Emotional Intelligence assessments provides scores derived from a reliable and valid measure of EI and helps improve people’s impact, influence, leadership and resilience through the development of core Emotional Intelligence skills.

Are your assessments scientifically valid and reliable?

Yes. A team of full-time psychologists and psychometricians have conducted ongoing research and development to ensure that our assessment instruments exceed all employment assessment guidelines.  The assessments are also continually monitored to ensure no gender, age, or ethnic bias. Our assessments are reliable and valid based on rigorous scientific standards.

How will your career assessments help me be more successful?

Our career assessments enable you to uncover objective information about your personality, behaviors, interests, and abilities. This insight helps you quickly discover what jobs would fit your inherent capabilities. It also helps you understand your strengths and limitations. If applied at the workplace, you get to identify opportunities to enhance performance and maximize your long-term contribution to your organization and team.

How much time is required for a candidate to complete your career assessments?

Time required depends on the assessment, but usually ranges from 15 to 45 minutes. Typically, the longer the assessment, the more comprehensive the resulting information; however, we do not put a time limit on most of our assessments.

Do I need to take a career assessment?

No. However, we strongly recommend that every candidate takes the assessment for his or her own benefit. The assessments not only provide you with valuable information about yourself, but some of the reports reveal insight about how you can find the right career that matches your interests and capabilities.
